I am looking at buying a 2022 Forest River RV Cherokee 264DBH Travel Trailer from a dealership. It is a 2022 model that is new on the lot.

Outside of the items on a PDI checklist is there anything specific I should be concerned about when looking at a camper that has been new on the lot for 2 years?

How common is it that a 2 year old model is new on the lot?

Some background... I am shopping for my third camper. 1st camper was from a private party, 2nd camper was from a dealer 7 years ago. This time around I'll be doing a much more through inspection using my own PDI as opposed to following along with the dealer one.

The tires are 2 yrs. older than new and so is all the roof sealants.

Beyond whatever other upgrades Cherokee might have done in the 2 yrs, I'd want discounts for those 2, for sure.

Responding to the original new travel trailer question, not the used motor home that sneaked in here. :) Since I went to the trouble to type it you get to read it despite the probable loss of applicability to thread drift.

If this was a bargain or at least decently priced it's have been gone two years ago.

2022 models started coming off the line in 2021 so this camper could be 3 years old. Regardless it's at least 2 years old with 2 years of weathering and exposure to environmental damage. The VIN data plate on the side will have the production date.

There's a reason this sat unsold and walked thru by dozens of people (including children) for over two years starting with over-priced and possibly progressing to repaired hidden damage. How many dealers has this trailer been owned by?

I'm spoiled in that both my campers were a week out of the factory into my driveway and never had to sit at the dealer longer than it took for the pre-delivery preparation. Buy a trailer (or car) that's been sitting unsold on a lot for months? Would have to be a real bargain. Haven't needed to buy another camper for many years. MSRP on these is gigantic over value.

I got a 2022 in Florida hot sun
the silcone on the outside is going white
some of the outside trim (vinyl covering for screws) is now aging had to replace one this week

if it has been outside stored all the seams need careful inspection

Are you using the PDI form that is found here on the forum. If not got to the green header bar above a click on Library and scroll down till you see PDI it is a printable form you can take with you. Later RJJD

I almost bought a left over and it was gone through so many times, visited many shows and picked for parts. It was in rough shape for a new camper. This is not meant to scare, but go through it carefully. In my case it wasn’t worth it anymore, too many things needing fixed with no timeline from the dealer. Again I’m all for good deals, just don’t assume it’s still new.

Open up every drawer, door, operate every valve, light switch, etc, you want things fixed, in writing, before it’s all finalized

Is it a high volume dealer, have you asked why still on lot ( they might be honest) will warranty start on date of purchase what is price difference between 22 and 25

Sitting on a lot(s) for 2-3 years should raise some flags.
Guarantee the roof has not been inspected or maintained during that period.
I bet the roof vent seals are baked and are yellow/brown in color.
