Condolences to the people in New Orleans on the tragedy this morning. Lots on the news. Truck plowed into the crowed early this morning. What I've heard is 10 dead and at least 35 injured.

Very sad.

Also sad those responsible for public safety apparently weren't concerned over similar events happening just weeks before elsewhere.

After the "Christmas Market" truck attack in Europe a couple years ago my local city (and others) started barricading parade and other event areas with Garbage Trucks, Dump Trucks, and other heavy equipment to prevent such attacks. Wooden barricades sure wouldn't make me feel safe in this day and age.
My condolences as well to families.

The people in charge of security for this event should be charged with criminal negligence. They knew well in advance that the bollards were broken and did not do anything meaningful to provide security. The day after this took place they had hardened the area. Talk about closing the barn door after the cows escaped.

This kind of negligence is why I stay away from large crowds.
