My wife and I picked up a new 289TBSS last Friday. We lived in it in the driveway until Sunday aside from using the black water system. So far, everything pretty much works.... The slide out is on a dedicated 15A fuse and blows that fuse, and the heater duct to the rear bunk house is crushed/clogged/blocked.

I bought from the Pittsburgh Campers Inn, but I'm trying to get approval to use Three Rivers Marine and RV to do the warranty work since my long time buddy works there. I'll see how that goes....

So we are hooked up and loaded to the 2017 Ram Rebel 1500 with the 5.7L Hemi and 3.92 gears included in the 10,160 lb Max tow package.

We are packed and ready to go to Tionesta Pa tomorrow night so that we can haul to her parents camp lot that has 110V power. I filled the fresh water tank this evening for shower/wash use. I'll be bringing bottled drinking water for consuming.

I hope to survive on the 110v power (no AC) and the water I brought in the 50 gallon tank.

We are super excited to try this out! I'll have to let you know how it works out!

Wish us luck! It's around 2 hours each way. I have tires at maximum cold pressure (65 psi, 2040 Max load rated each) and the truck ready to pull. 20190723_202102.jpg20190723_202130.jpg20190723_202148.jpg20190723_202203.jpg20190723_202249.jpg20190723_202228.jpg20190723_192158.jpg20190722_201137.jpg20190719_202454.jpg

Welcome and congratulations on the rig. Depending on your electric usage, your AC may not be totally off the table. Even a 15 or 20 amp can run your AC so long as you're not drawing a lot on other items. That being said, at least we're into some cooler weather here in western PA in case you can't use it. Have fun up there, Tionesta is always a beautiful stop.

Really nice set up, Congratulations and Welcome to the forum from New Jersey, Safe travels, Keep us posted.

I'm from Beaver County, right near the Ohio River and 10 minutes from the I-79/Turnpike intersection. I'm interested in seeing how the trailer pulls with the 50 gallons of water in the rear (415 lbs), I can really tell that it lightened the tongue weight, I can't use my Reese weight distribution because I'm only at 3/4" front raise and 1.5" of rear drop. If I try to tension the springs I would be lifting the rear above empty and that gets dangerous! So I'm taking the bars with me for the ride home after the water is used.

The truck is awesome! You enable the 4 corner air suspension after seeing up the trailer and it goes back to factory heights and always looks perfectly normal.

We're a couple counties over in Armstrong. Lots of great camping in our great state. Any questions you have along the way, bring back here. It's a great place to get some assistance.

Congrats and welcome from Arkansas.

The 15amp fuse sounds light for the slide. I will try and see what mine is in a bit....unless someone smarter already knows.

Nice

Nice rig. We have a 2016 Apex 279RLSS. Love it still. Towed it cross country, SC to Washington State, back in 2016. TT is still solid. Minor issues over time and easy to correct. Not sure about the 110v (no AC) concern. I run a 13500 BTU on a 110 line. They spec the trailer for 30AMP, but that’s to accommodate running more stuff than just the AC. I’ve been running AC in my drive way on 110/20 amp while doing some PM...with nothing else running...no problem.

Heading to Pisgah Forest in North Carolina this Friday. Warm days, cool nights with a trout stream next to the site! 70 years old and still get giddy when hitting the road.

Congrats. Welcome from Eastern PA. My wife and i just got our Ultra Lite 215RBK in May. Have had it out twice so far and love it. Has some great features and was just what we were looking for. Hope you enjoy yours as much as we do.

Welcome from Erie, PA. We love Cook Forest, not far from Tionesta.
We actually stay at Macbeth's in the house on the right of the store. We have been going to Macbeth's for about a decade now and have a standing reservation for the house every August.

Next month, we gave our week at Macbeth's to my parents and my sister to use and we are going to drag the camper to the Meadville KOA and try something different.

This shake down run is going well so far.

Issues known:
Tee molding in the ceiling inside the doorway that will not go up into place. I suspect an obstruction (staple?) in the groove that needs removed.

One LED light ceiling light is extremely hard to press/click to turn on and off.

Heat duct outlet to the rear bunkhouse is getting zero airflow.

Slide out was blowing 15 amp fusses, was told to put a 30 amp fuse in. I instead installed a 20 amp and have put the slide in and out 3 times and not smoked a fuse.

I'm not sure if there electric side of the hot water heater is working? Yesterday I turned the water heater breaker on in the breaker panel and waited about 20 and ran water. Nothing. I went into the bathroom and hit the red water heater switch, I heard there flame/propane system whoosh into life and in 5 minutes I could melt flesh with water. Maybe there is another step to activate the electric hot water?

Dumb Question.... Is the furnace gas and electric? I've only seen it use gas. Is there a way while plugged in to not use gas for furnace?

We do a trip for the 4th at the State campground and the first Friday in October for a week at Kalumet. We did cabins, state and private, until we got our first TT 7 years ago. Never been to the Meadville KOA, but have heard it is nice. We like state campgrounds. Our next trip is Friday Aug 2nd to Watkins Glen for race weekend then staying the week. We are at the Corning KOA for that trip.

You don't mention your water heater make/model but many Suburbans have a somewhat 'hidden' electric switch in the outside compartment door in the lower left behind the burner tube. (see photo) I'm surprised your dealer didn't show you that during your PDI/Customer Orientation.

The furnace is LP only. (using 12v to spin the fan and control the furnace)
Again, you must have got a poor PDI/Customer Orientation. These things should have all been shown to you and explained by the dealer.

Many of use a small electric heater to supplement the furnace.
Remember most 120v electric are 1500w on hi so be cautious of what else is on the circuit you plug it into.

Also in an earlier post you mentioned filling up the fresh tank... did you sanitize the fresh water system?

Enjoy... it is all about the journey!

The furnace requires the use of gas. We carry a couple small milk house heaters in the event we need some heat while plugged in. There are many types of plug in electrics available, just keep in mind that one good electric heater will usually use most of a 15 amp breaker.

Okay, so I have the suburban hot water heater as pictured in the post above.

It has 2 black reset electrical buttons. It has that on/off rocker switch in the on position. I turned the breaker on in the panel yesterday and waited about 15 minutes and checked for warm water and got nothing. I went into the bathroom and hit the ticket switch for the water heater and heard the gas light up and in about 10 minutes had flesh melting hot water.

So what is the procedure that I'm screwing up to get the electric to heat water? I'd rather save the gas since in plugged in, I don't see a good reason to burn gas just because.

I am also fighting the Jensen JW40 Jconnect application. I have joined the phone without the application and can BT music directly to the radio from the phone and the Amazon music application, but I can not get the Jconnect application to find/marry the radio to allow me to control the radio. It just says searching and then says failed. I've gotten frustrated and given up for now. 20190725_092916.jpg20190725_092934.jpg20190725_092948.jpg20190725_082559.jpg
