Hey Folks

Let me apologize upfront to the moderators if Im not posting in the correct place for my questions

As mentioned, very new to the RV world. I have been given some good advice so far, go to shows(going in Jan), go to dealers(been to 1 so far), rent 1st to see if this is the kind of vacations we want(doing this in Apr at Ft Wilderness, Meachums will set up).

So far we have looked at floorplans for Grand Design, Jayco and Forest River. GD gets great reviews, but the particular floorplans we like they dont have. Jayco sort of the same thing, but FR has 2 in particular we really like. Both have bunkhouses and separate doors for the bath area, one from main area, one from the bedroom, with the bedroom having a separate door as well. My wife really likes that layout so we are leaning that way.

So my questions are...Anyone on here own or owned a FR Rockwood 8336BH or FLagtaff 832BWS? Any thoughts, good, bad or indifferent?

Question 2...anyone ever purchased or dealt with from RV Outlet in Danville VA or Shaw RV in Asheboro NC? Thoughts, good, bad or indifferent?

Don't have a Rockwood and that question is probably best asked in the Rockwood forum.

You need to find the floorplan that works for you. If it has a slideout, make certain that you can get to the bathroom with the slide pulled in. Also make certain that you can pull it with your tow vehicle.

No matter what dealer you use, make certain you do a good walkthrough BEFORE you sign the final papers. If there are things that need to be fixed, have them fix them before you sign the final papers. Once you sign the final papers, warranty repairs are done by the service department and your trailer could be in there for months while they wrestle with warranty claims.

A belated welcome to the forum!

Welcome
I have owned a Rockwood signature 5th wheel before. After about year 3, I spent as much time repairing it as I spent enjoying it.
With that said, I have owned class a, c, pop up, 5th wheel and TT. I honestly believe it is just a crap shoot if you get a good one or not.
The main thing is to really check out any dealer as to how they handle warranty work. Check yelp, google, bbb and anyplace else you can think of.
I’ve been lucky. When I purchased new, it has always been from a smaller, FAMILY run dealership, and I have not had issues getting warranty work done. I have read many horror stories of “chain” dealerships keeping trailers for 6 months or more.
Also, I have always worked with the dealership, I didn’t bring it in for a loose screw or other minor things. When I do bring one in, I try to give realistic time lines. For instance I have 5 or 6 items right now that are warranty repairs. Nothing stopping me from using the trailer. Talked to the dealership, going to bring it in at the end of October, told them to keep it till February.

Rockwood and Flagstaff are twin brands so those two you're interested in, are the same exact trailers except for outside graphics and interior decor. They are built in the same factory and assembly line.

There are way more Rockwood dealers than Flagstaff dealers.
We had a Rockwood model for 10 years and it was a great trailer.
I think you'll find mostly positive feedback on both brands, by going to their respective sub-forums.
Our next RV will be the Rockwood 8263mbr or the twin Flagstaff 826MBR. You need a 3/4 or bigger tow vehicle. I own a F150 3.5 Ecoboost with 1828lbs of payload and I've done the research. 99% of owners of these trailers, recommend 3/4 ton or bigger. I plan getting the trailer and bigger truck next year.

I do not own either of those models, but I do own a '22 Rockwood 8324SB. Compared to my previous Keystone Cougar TT (which Keystone markets as an upper tier TT), I much prefer the Rockwood's fit and finish. However, realize that all manufacturer's use pretty much the same frame, appliances, mechanicals etc., so you won't find much difference there. I do like that FR puts torsion axles on these trailer's vs. leaf spring suspensions.

Here is my one piece of advice, that you may or may not know:

Either of the models you are looking at is going to be a beast to tow. You WILL require at minimum a 3/4 ton truck, preferably a 1-ton and ideally a longbed. Loaded up you will be pushing 1400 lbs of tongue weight alone, and the length, at nearly 37' is a lot to control. I pull ours with a 1-ton truck and get pushed around quite a bit compared to the 33', 8500 lb. previous trailer.

37' on the bumper is a handful. I would suggest perhaps you take a look at some 5'vers that fit your floorplan needs.

.... what reverse_snowbird said ....

they have to fix any stuff
Before you sign the last paper work accepting the RV...
Don't sign for or hand over the final payment

My walk through lasted 2 hours... they went through everything with me...

We looked at the same floorplans. They would have been ideal when we still had kids at home. because of the weight and length You will want a longer tow truck and one that can take the weight. We ended up in a long bed crewcab 3/4 ton pulling a Greywolf 29 QB.
Less slide outs, less weight, but still two bedrooms and good privacy when we take our adult kids with us. Good Luck DR

007 RV Outlet in Danville VA has a good reputation, and usually a good price. We have shopped there.

We have not purchased from the Danville location but have purchased from their branch in Longs SC. (Near North Myrtle Beach). Got a Great Price.

Good Luck !!
