Hello, I am unable to get any Navigation at all to function in my 2024 Europa with the Kenwood system.

First issue is with the unit. No matter how long I leave it stationary and powered up and no matter how clear the view of the sky it will not acquire any satellites. I tried looking in the owners manual and can't find anything to help me out. I have tried over 15 minutes and still nothing. The GPS simulator function in the Garmin is confirmed to be off.
Therefore, there is no way to use the navigation function.

The next problem is since the Kenwood is set up as a commercial vehicle, it blocks the use of any Navigation off of my phone. Android auto nav is completely blocked from getting used, therefore I can't use my phone for nav either. If I try to navigate at all, it blocks my phone and disables the nav on my phone as well. If I disconnect the android auto, and try to use my phone by itself, it immediately says gps signal lost and won't navigate. Although if I just get directions on my phone and do not start navigation then the dot follows along the map just fine. It's just if I start navigation, the Kenwood immediately blocks the navigation function on the phone.

The only thing I can do is use android auto and view the map on the Kenwood with no directions. It also seemed to work if I completely delete my phone from the Kenwood's device list. Then I can use the phone by itself for navigation. But then I lose all the hands free functions which is the point of having the Kenwood.

Anyone else have this issue?

Two things to check, one is that the radio's GPS antenna is attached and can see the sky, several folks ahve found it fell down behind the dash, and they had to bring it back up and put it on a piece of metal as a backer. I found mine was like this. You can check the tips and tricks threads for info on pulling the dash, it's a lot of screws but not hard.

Second I think there were some comments on android auto and the larger screen kenwood, but don't recall what, you should search here for that unit name.

Thanks, for that tip. I will try to look for the GPS antenna.

It would make sense that it fell behind the dash. It worked for about the first 1200 miles and then hasn't worked since. That seems like a likely cause of my problem.

Do you know where it is supposed to be located from the factory? I can't seem to find where it should be?

So if you pull the dash you'll find the back of the radio and you should be able to find the wire connected to the back of it and then trace that down. In my case it was just in the wiring next behind the radio.

I found there was a small piece of material in the radio manual that was black and like 3" square, if you check it's some sort of metal as it's magnetic but also slightly flexible. I ended up sticking this to something else under the dashboard and slapping the antenna which is magnetic on top of this, also this gives it a bit of a ground plane. Prior to that it was just sort of hanging out by itself a little sideways. others have brought it around and stuck it on top of the dashboard behind the windshield to get an even clearer view of the sky.

What is the small sat looking antenna on the front cap next to the clearance light? I thought that was probably the head unit antenna. I don't have one on my dash. 2024 32KD.

Just an update on this in case anyone else has the same issue.

I finally got around to taking the dash apart. I traced the wire from the back of the head unit where GPS input is labeled.

At the other end I found a small black box in the bottom of the dash with the adhesive backer still not even removed.

So on installation it was just left inside the dash or it fell back into the dash but it was never stuck to anything to keep it in position.

Problem solved.

Did it look anything like this SiriusXm antenna for vehicles?

It did look kind of like that picture, but it wasn't Sirius XM.

There was a separate input for the Sirius XM receiver.

The GPS had a separate input that went to a small square box shaped kind of like what you posted but it had no name on it and it wasn't the Sirius XM receiver.

I believe in mine, the Sirius XM antenna is in the roof next to the clearance lights. They are similarly shaped and sized but there are 2 unrelated separate antennas, wiring and inputs at the back of the head unit.
