Not so fantastic fan

Water Displacement. Intended to be sprayed on the inside and outside of a wet distributor cap of a stalled military vehicle so it can be restarted after the distributor takes a bath in a creek, pond or puddle. Made for the military.

Oil a squeaking door hinge in your house with it and see if it don't need it again within a couple of months. Not a good lube.

Well... you clearly think the rest of us are using this product incorrectly. But it works for me! And I do have to repeatedly use it on my squeaky doors..... about every 2 years

It has always been thus...but does that exempt it from being a lubricant?

In my mind it is not a lub,,, not saying is not a good product,,,
But for a lube job it is not the best thing around !!!
If you have a lock set you don't like,,, spray it with WD40 !!!

If you can sometime remove the hinge pins and apply some Super Lub,,,
You may never have a squeaky door again !!!

By the way, oil displaces water too.

But, it will sure screw up your distributor.

And I thought WD-40(water displacement , 40th mixture) was made for NASA. Used to displace water on rocket craft, to stop the formation of ice!
I've got 10 cans in the shop.

Not reversible. I will take the screen off and see if anything is loose. I don't feel anything but can't get to the motor with the screen on.

The light weight oil might help too.

Do this; fan is easily accessible from the roof side, no need to fiddle with the screen. With the fan off, spin the blades and listen for noise. Try both directions. You might notice that debris is contacting the fan blades. Those motors are sealed, so no lubrication is needed, or possible. Not sure on the warranty, but readily accessible in your unit paperwork, or on the net. Good luck.

You are correct. It was invented similar to above but later used on military vehicle ignition systems.

OK you guys have completely hijacked this thread!!
I'm just sayin......

To the OP- we suggest you check carefully that something is not rubbing.
IF it's free of debris and not rubbing the housing it's a bad motor bearing/bushing or even the motor brushes can sometimes get noisy. This is a warranty issue that either you can take up with the folks who made the fan and do it yourself OR take it back to your dealer and wait for them to get around to it. It depends on your DIY comfort level.
