On fire!

seems you mostly have an answer, one bit of advice.

I would turn off all power except the one circuit you need for the dehumidifier or whatever. No need to power that 12v convertor all the time for sure!
Unless $$ doesn't matter to you, in which case I'm available to be your RV buddy(said in a post you don't have one) for a super reasonable fee.

Just be aware that there are residual loads that will be running off the battery such as the CO/Propane leak detector, unless you pull a cable off a battery terminal.

I thought that the main poster indicated he pulled the battery out? My reply is relevant to that storage situation, you need 120v for a storage appliance, and the 12v battery is removed.

(Sorry, can't figure out which subforum this should be in.) Awakened by passerby shortly after 2 a.m. because trailer - mostly the cover - in flames. Parked on our front driveway, winterized and covered, plugged in to double surge-protected shore power, battery removed to prevent theft (again). Firemen say probable arson as have a local arsonist setting spot fires and after inspecting jack do not believe it started the fire. I've attached a couple pics.

Because the jack is so damaged, from your view is it possible that it was, indeed, the jack? I couldn't find any reports of Lippert jack fires in an internet search. And if it was the jack, do I need to have all the trailer wiring inspected?

Thank you in advance for any insight. :crying:

Speaking from experience, the fire dept. seems to have determined the cause. Did a certified fire investigator determine the cause? Only they know. No one can look at that picture and give a scientific answer to your question. Opinions are irrelevant. Your insurance company has the right to have an independent investigator take a look at it. Good luck.
