I am swapping 2 golf cart batteries for 2 Lithium. Do to the size of the batteries I needed a longer cable. I ordered a 2 gauge wire then after receiving it saw that my existing cables are 2/0. Can I use the 2 gauge with the 2/0?

To be clear I'd connect the negative with a 2/0 and between the positive would be a 2 gauge?

At most, very rarely, a furnace, a couple lights and water pump si, about 15.

I agree with the 2 gauge recommendation. Don't forget, resistance is a product of gauge and LENGTH. For a short cable run, 2 gauge is absolutely fine.

X2 plus that short cable will only see 1/2 the total battery current being drawn. The existing cable used to put the 6 volt batteries in series was subjected to the full amperage.

If the coach is wired with 2/0 cable, I'm wondering what that supports. Mine came new with 2/0 but that feeds a 2000 watt inverter, that is capable of pulling 170 amps and more in surge.

I wired my 3 LiFePo's with 1/0 each to the 2/0. But still I wonder what your coach has going that required only the two GC2's but wired with 2/0

My OEM 1000w inverter is using 2 gauge. You're right Tom, something big must be wired to the 2/0.
