I go on Friday to pick up my 25srk. The PDI check lists have a section for "Chassis Inspection". I believe the 25srk has an enclosed underbelly. What can I and should I inspect understanding that much of the underneath will not be accessible?

A lot of the pluming is in that area plus wiring. If you run both hot and cold water if you have any leaks they will show up. There should b a small area that can be unscrewed and you an take a light and shine up into the opening. I had his on my camper. later RJD

Makes sense. I think I'll try to borrow an auto creeper to get around easier.

Forest River 25srk

thanks

Forest River is the corporate name, not the brand name.
Forest River Incorporated has around 100 different brands and many different divisions.

Looking at your previous posts, it looks like your 27SRK, is from the Flagstaff brand.

Hire a professional inspector. Trust me, it is well worth the money. That practice has saved me nearly $150k in the past.

$150k? That seems like a lot. I've always self-inspected and never had any issues, in fact my last RV was $300k brand new but I bought it used, and when I sold it, it had over 109,000 miles on it. Never an issue that wasn't caused by my mistakes. Make sure you get service records, and look it all over. I can get it if you've never owned an RV before that you might want AT LEAST a friend who's been RV'ing for a few years to look it over, but how did you save $150k?

Didn't say it was an RV. It was an airplane I hadn't put eyes on myself. In the inspector's words it was "a great instrument panel that needs a new airplane around it."

Picked up our 25srk at Stoltzfus RV in Adamstown PA on Friday. Everything went smoothly and we are having fun getting it packed and ready with our standard camping equipment.

Congrats on the new rig. Chances are, you are packing 50% more stuff than you'll ever need.

We bought our camper at Stoltzfus in Adamstown, and had a great experience.

Get an Inspection BEFORE taking Delivery

Go to
NRVIA.org
and use the locator for your area and hire a certified inspector. The inspector will spend approximately six to eight hours on your new rig and you'll get a detailed report with pix and potentially video of your rig. This is well worth the money.

A dealership will tell you that they do xxx point inspection. The truth of the matter is that more than likely they sent a very junior tech - an apprentice - out to do the "thorough" inspection. This is the reality. The salesmen will tell you that its not necessary - trust me, it is. If you have not paid for it, even better - you can use that as leverage. If you have paid for it but haven't taken delivery, then you have not accepted it - you can still use that as leverage. Remember, a loan can be cancelled.

Good luck.

X2 to the above.

If you should decide do this (PDI) yourself, be sure to make clear written notes, copy, will be supplied to the Dealer along with pictures of each item on the list which will be supplied to the Dealer.

After you sign the paperwork and drag it off of the lot.........it's yours. As to any warranty, that is provided from the manufacturer who may or may not authorize the Dealer to do the work. The Dealer offers no warranty unless by separate written agreement. "What he said" is only hot air to fill a baloon.
