Hello all,
So when dewinterizing this week, we noticed a pink stain on the floor near the front door. It’s not antifreeze, we found it under our heavy rubber mat (see photo).
After doing some research, I found that it’s either a bacteria leaving a stain, or moisture causing the glue to permeate through the vinyl. I think this is more probable, since (stupid me) I had two heavy rubber mats in that same spot all winter with a tool bag and a case of parts sitting on it the whole off season, with no time for the floor to breathe. No reason to think it’s exterior water intrusion as the pattern on the floor is pretty obvious and there’s no other water damage.
My question is, is there any reason to think this stain will spread if caused by either that bacteria or the mat being left in place for many months? The current stain is totally covered by our welcome mat, and while annoying, I can learn and move on so long as it doesn’t spread. Just curious if anyone else has experience this and what the future looks like because I have no intention of replacing the entire vinyl floor when the subfloor is intact. Thanks in advance!
