This is the closest category I could find to ask this question; Where do you get replacement drawer glides?

We own a 2016 Forest River Cardinal 3825FL.

Our closet two-drawer clothes dresser keeps falling out of the ball-bearing glide. I want to replace both sides. Home Depot has a 14" replacement that is too large. The main part that connects to the cabinet and the back wall is 13 1/4" long and the part that attaches to the drawer and slides into the glide is 11 3/4 inches long.

I was going to get on Amazon and see what they have that is close. I'd call Forest River if there is a department that could send me a replacement. Any suggestions?

Here’s some names and numbers from the Cardinal division of Forest River, but remember…….you’ll probably hear crickets until we’ll into next week/year. :D

I would look at Rockler.com or Woodcraft.com for draw slides. Since I do woodworking, this is where I purchase my drawer slides from. There are several different styles some heavy duty and some not, all in different lengths. Some are full open, others are not as they only open to 3/4 length, and some are soft closed. The cost will run from $12.99 a set to $159 a set.

I would not try to use the slide length that was the original length but purchase slides that are as close as to the original length as possible and purchase the full open style. Also, I would get the heavy-duty drawer slides. There is one set that is close (12" total length) over travel that is rated for 100LBS and is priced at $ 20.99 a set, made by centerline. I have had great success when using this brand for my furniture needs that I make.

Thank you for the reply. I got sent to voice mail at Camping World and I've been on Amazon and other locations for hours, but they don't offer my size.

The depth of the drawer is only 12 inches and the original slide was 11 3/4" for the piece that attaches to the drawer and 13 1/4 inch for the main slide.

The original piece was built well it seems because instead of buying a plastic piece to attach to the rear wall behind the drawer and slide the slide inside of it, the rear of the original metal slide was "L" shaped and you just screwed it into the wall in the back and against the said of the front opening in the dresser.

It looks like I'll have to use one with the plastic sleeve that allows the slide to be less than a perfect length. I think a 13 inch slide will work, but many won't include a perfect fitting 11 3/4 inch inner piece to attach to the side of the drawer. But I don't see why it can't extend slightly past the edge of the drawer. From the back of the drawer to the wall is just over an inch, so the inside piece could be almost as long as the outside slider.

I'll take your advice and begin search those sites.

Heh, heh

Heh, heh. Years ago I was not satisfied with the quality of the bathroom vanities from the lumberyard, so I built one from oak. I just knew my then 2- and 4-year-olds would pull out the four drawers to successively shorter lengths and use them as steps to climb to the top of the cabinet. I used the 100-lb, full-length, ball-bearing slides, fastened to the oak framing. It was really solid.

I had never considered Ebay. The first one you listed looks perfect. I already ordered a pair from somewhere else, but if they don't work out, I'll order the Ebay 12inch slides. Thanks for your research.

this may be late. we have a 2015 cardinal model 3825. i had problems with the drawer glides in the pantry. the little strip with the ball bearings in it came out of the glides. i took the drawer out of the pantry so i could access the glides.

stamped on the glides was the manufacturer's info. i looked that up online and found them. i'm sorry but i do not remember who the manufacturer was but it was easy to find them. they come in different lengths so you'll need to know how what length you need.

but i looked at the glides and they seemed just fine, except that the little ball bearing strip had worked on the front of the glide. there is a little tab in the front of the glide that is supposed to keep the strip in. i reassembled the glide and then bent the tab some more so that it will hold the ball bearing strips in better. so far they have worked fine.

Our broken glide is on a closet two drawer dresser drawer. We have some loose ball bearings lying on the carpet because of the broken plastic piece that retains them.

The new pair of glides should show up in a day or two and we will discover if they fit and work.

I'd like to ask you another question, since you own the same model as we own.

I believe the 2015 living room is slightly different than the 2016. We have two sofas and a one piece, two seater recliner with a removeable divider in the middle for a shared armrest. Like a lot of fake leather covered recliners, the material is delaminating and flaking off on the headrest and the armrest.

We are shopping for a replacement and I was going to start a new thread asking people where they shopped for new recliners or a new loveseat recliner. I was thinking your model had an "L" shaped sofa and no recliners, so you might not have had issues or you would not have had to replace a recliner. But if you did, where did you find it.

I've been measuring the space and can fit something 60 inches wide and 36 inches deep. I'd like to find two glider recliners instead of a loveseat, but they can't be over 30 inches wide each. I keep finding recliners that are close, but are over 36 inches deep and would block the slide when we pull it in. I was going to contact an RV furniture maker in Indiana and ask them what they have that would fit.

well a topic near and dear to my heart!!!

the 2015 living room sounds the same as yours. we have two sofas in the living room slideouts that fold out into beds. and we have the two person recliner up against the kitchen divider. sounds just like yours.

and yes, the fabric is pealing pretty bad! we're probably going to have the recliner reupholstered, probably in cloth rather that that stuff that peals. that's a this year project. the side sofas can probably wait a year or so.

we've considered replacing one of the couched with a larger recliner but getting it to fit may be an issue. it will probably need some type of support for the legs that don't fit on the slide out floor. this is just a dream for now.

the issue that you mentioned is that all this furniture has to fit with the slides retracted. there's not a lot of clearance between the front of the existing recliner and the side of the driver side slide out.

Yes, ours is identical to yours. There is only 36 inches between the divider wall to the kitchen and the edge of the sofa slide out. Most recliners are deeper than 36 inches. Then there is only 60 inches of width available and if we went with two recliners vs. a single loveseat, we'd need some space to get to any lever mechanism to operate the recliner, unless we found recliners with releases that are inside the armrest. We might have to consider doing that you are planning to do and reupholster the existing loveseat. The problem is we are not happy with them as they are the style that doesn't lock into place and that makes them difficult to sleep in without them constantly readjusting as you move around. Also, when extended, the leg support does not go out far enough for me (I'm 6' 3"). The height of the back of the seat is just about right. I wouldn't want to replace it with anything shorter. One of the sofas has a 2" tear in the pleather material between two of the seat cushions, but it is hard to notice. Looking at the uneven surface they were built on top of, I doubt they could be replaced with anything that would fit. Someone here at our RV resort in Phoenix, mentioned there is a place in Mexico they know of where they will inexpensively recover your existing furniture in leather or cloth. I don't feel comfortable hauling this large 5th wheel into Mexico, but maybe there is an upholstery shop in Phoenix that do the job for less than the cost of replacing it. If I guessed, I was thinking it would cost around $6000 for all three pieces to be recovered.

Our current plan for upgrades includes traveling to MORryde in October to get a new independent suspension system and disc brakes, and while we are there for two days, visiting a couple RV furniture manufacturers to see what is available. I've viewed some web sites and so far have not found any recliners that rock or glide and also are 30 inches wide and 36 inches deep.

Have you considered the cheap option of just tossing blankets over the sofas and loveseat?

Drawer slide saga continues

So it figures the new pair of drawer slides arrived on a Saturday, when nobody is working at Woodcraft, to explain how to install the slides. The pictures are not a huge help. My drawer slides were mounted along the bottom of the drawers and their pictures show a mounting position in the middle of the side of the drawer. Their directions say this:

1. Separate slide members by pushing the disconnect latch into the drawer member.

2. Install large cabinet members.
- For conventional mounting see figure 1.
- See figure 3 for 32mm mounting.

3. Check that both cabinet members are vertically and horizontally parallel. Make necessary adjustments.

4. Install drawer member through vertical slots.

5. Insert drawer member after making sure ball bearing retainers are fully forward. Close drawer completely.

6. Adjust position and install two more screws in round holes in each member.

So I stared at the instructions and pictures for 30 minutes and got through step 1. That is as far as I got. I held the pieces and placed them where it looks like they belong, several times, and couldn't imagine how it was going to fit. I rechecked the instructions and stared at the pictures some more. Then I got out my measuring tape and measured the distance from the front of the cabinet to the rear wall in the closet where the old slide was attached. As I held the new slide inside the cabinet, it seemed much too short to attach to the wall and still fit flush with the front of the cabinet. It was short by 3 inches. I needed to replace a 13 inch slide and my choices were a 12 inch or a 14 inch slide. Because the rear wall mount I also purchased allows the slide to adjust in or out, away from the wall. I figured I needed a 12 inch slide.

Oh wait, I just went to the box everything came in and looked at the smaller box the pair of slides came in and they are marked model 3J01, Full Extension Slide Mount 10".

That explains it. I got 10 inch slides that won't fit because I needed 12 inch slides.

So did I order the wrong size by mistake or did they send me the wrong size by mistake? Again, its Saturday, so there is no way to find out until Monday.

I'll order a pair of 12" slides and wait ten days or whatever it took for them to get here and try this again. If the 12" slides don't work, I'm tempted to tell my wife to just toss her clothes into the opening in her cabinet, where the drawer once was.

Today is your lucky day!!

Today is your lucky day! You can send those back as "wrong size sent." Then order the other type of slide that supports the drawer from the bottom, if that's easier for you.

For what it's worth, I picked up three free drawers on Craigslist that had the bottom-corner type slides, but the donor had let the mating parts go with the cabinets. I had the side-mount type, so I used them. It's okay to switch from one type to the other.

Let me take a second look on eBay for you.

Okay, some of the "bottom mount" or "undermount" slides simply have a flat rail that screws up from the bottom into the side of the drawer, and sometimes it's an angle piece. Not sure if you have a preference. I'll just grab a few samples. You may want to do your own search. Some of these do not have the rear bracket, but it looks like you could get brackets from another source.

Brackets here:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1122158605...3bX25QpCDftqx9kWkBx2CRNRjYM=|tkp:BFBM3p3E6rFh

12" undermount slides with brackets, but you have to get 6 pair (expensive)
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1953034283...chHMpFkuOAZp9GaQcAaq7SnjQGg=|tkp:BFBM3p3E6rFh

Price is right for these, but no brackets

This is the other kind of undermount, where the part that attaches to the drawer supports from the bottom, but wraps around the side a little bit. Seems to need brackets for the rear mount.

AMAZON!! 12-inch undermount with brackets. How many drawers are you doing? They have 6-pair for $92 or $84.

The other style of bottom mount
https://www.amazon.com/Liberty-D688...refix=drawer+slides+12-inch+u,aps,442&sr=8-17

These are the first ones I found. An exhaustive search at both sites would do better. If the original slides were of good quality, finding an exact match would be helpful in fitting.

In the morning, I will contact Woodcraft to see about getting the proper length of slide. I went to their website to try and figure out if maybe I ordered the wrong length. I can't be sure. What is unusual, is that this morning, I received an email from Woodcraft, asking me; Did you see something. Then below it showed the 12 inch slides and next to a picture of the 12 inch slides it said this; Is this what you need? So they have some sort of computer system that knows when you are on their web site and what you are looking at. I wish that computer of theirs would have told me not to order the short slides.

Rockler Woodworking and Hardware has them in all the available sizes. I got 7” long slides, for a “junk drawer “ I made for the cabinet under the sink. A 10” for a drawer I created for a blank panel in the kitchen slide out. And 26” long slides for the replacement drawer boxes I made for the 17” long drawers next to the Murphy bed.
