Rockwood front window light and dark shade

I have a 2021 Rockwood 2608BS travel trailer. I love almost everything about it
except the light and dark window shades. I fixed two small ones following the torturous instructions. Now the front window strings are beginning to fray making the window inoperable. I find that the strings that are used have an outer cotton covering that is subject to failure. Has anyone come up with an alternative to what the manufacturer has provided. Our kitchen is by the window and because the glass is reflective, we keep it open all day and only close it at night.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have considered making window shades with reflectix interior and replacing the string ones.
