I do this when camping, “peppermint oil” and spray anywhere rodents can crawl up,openings, hoses, wires, chains, hitch, tires, stabilizer legs.
I use 32 oz. spray bottle add 20 drops per spray bottle but mostly I grow peppermint in my backyard, just cut up leaves and branches crush in gallon pail, make big supply. ( PS peppermint grows like a weed)..
If u store trailer just spray a little by opening lower drawer or any lower accessible lower area once every two weeks give light spray.
I have never had rodents in my trailer, bought trailer new 2016.

Thanks for sharing your rodent repellent. It's a good use for your 'grow like a weed peppermint'. Perhaps the fresh mint is more potent.

The latest round of rodent repellents going around is animal urine, coyote I is the most common, I think(?). Also, I read some threads on other forums where it is just suggested to pee on your tires and any points touching the ground and you'll be rodent-free. My wife suggested bringing the grandkids over!

Coyote urine would probably work because coyotes feed on rodents. You don't want to traumatize the grandkids. :)
Our enclosed storage area has feral cats that use the sheds for shelter and keep the rodents in check.

And why do you think I take a walk around our trailer before retiring for the evening. Two reasons: (a)____ and (b)____ . I'll let you fill in the blanks.

After finding signs of mice, I did the following. Inspected (including pulling drawers out) entire TT. Found mouse droppings in one front bedside closet as well as under drawer in kitchen. Front bedside closet had an electric line that came up through floor of closet. The hole cut for that line was about 3" across. I cut a slot in a piece of pool noodle and closed up hole. Couldn't see entry point in kitchen area. I then bought a can of the mice proof expanding foam and got under the TT. Found 2 obvious entry points (1 in front by closet and 1 where gas and electric lines went through floor and into the kitchen area). I sprayed both locations, and will check again next summer.

Knock on wood, I don't think I've had any rodents in the travel trailer yet. But I did install a remote start in my truck yesterday that required removing the driver side interior kick panel. I found a large mummified rat behind it. No idea how it managed to squeeze in there.
