RV Drone Pilots

BAMABOB, are now using the Litchi app? I'M using that, but can't get my flights recorded, to the UD. Sync.any ideas why? It will work with the dji go app only

Glenn,

Have you upgraded your firmware recently (I did last month). If so, you have to "re-sync" with the DJI Go app them use Litchi.

Litchi is FABULOUS for Route planning but if I am just going to casually fly, I use DJI Go.

Lot of interesting stuff in the works. In case you were not aware the FAA /congress has reinstitued the requirement for pilot registration that was suspended for a while. In addition there is a proposal under review that will require every aircraft to have a unique registration number ( not just one for the pilot) and eventually require all aircraft to have a transponder that would essentially squawk that Id# any time the aircraft was powered up.

That sucks! That brings up 2 questions.
1) How much is the the registration per aircraft going to cost?
2) How much are the transponders?

I imagine there will be a separate fee to program each transponder to the aircraft's ID#. I have six, 1 helicopter, 5 planes. A friend has 11 planes for the various type of flying.

These multi-rotor drones with gps makes it so anyone can fly no matter how coordinated they are. If you really want to know how good you are at flying, try a collective-pitch helicopter.

Registration is only five dollars and I really don’t see them requiring any type of transponder on hobby rated drones.

At this time it is a proposal only, but it will impact all UAS. The FAA definition of UAS is very broad and covers every RC aircraft. It is being driven by the crazy videos some people are posting on You tube of quad copters above 5000 ft or photographing airliners landing at airports ( from the air).

i have a Galileo stealth. flown it for a total of 10 minutes. but i’m at the rv resort and lots of room here in San Antonio.

We just got our son a Mavic Pro. I did a lot of research and Amazon had a deal on the bundle for Christmas. I also bought a cheap one for me to play with

Helicopters don't really fly - they just beat the surrounding air into submission.

Can't believe I missed this thread. Mavic Pro Platinum here.

As far as transponders/unique registration, how far will this go, as in what range of unmanned aircraft will it cover? Required on the $30 toy drone you buy at Walmart? I would love a link for investigation if handy to the proposed bill. I have yet to see anything of the sort on mavicpilots.com but I generally just browse a select few forums, usually the noise spills over to those forums I frequent in time.

Will cover all aircraft currently requiring FAA registration. So small toys no, Mavic yes.
