Can anyone help me not hate this plastic piece of slider that constantly sticks or falls off?

Moved thread from the General Tech and Repair section to the Windows, Awnings and Doors sub-forum since the OP's questions are specific to Doors and are not general tech and repair questions.

Try 100 % silicone spray. Works like a dream drys so it doesn't collect dust or dirt. If it does pop out you can dress top and bottom edge with 0000 steel wool. Problem should be done.

At the top of the slide:
Super thin 'sheet' of plastic (like a gift card or a pocket calendar used to be made of) that will slide into groove with the slide. Fit all the way into the groove/slot to extend the slide.
Tape to existing slide.
Lube with silicone spray.

WD is one of the worst things to use on any slider, especially plastic.
It attracts dust and dirt and may affect the plastic making it swell or soften and stick.
Thoroughly clean the track and apply 100% silicone

Despite how handy it seems don't allow children to use the slider as a handle to close the door. The term includes most adult men.

If/when you remove the slider……clean the edges thoroughly.
Then using a toothbrush (hopefully not your partner’s) thoroughly clean both the upper and lower tracks.
After all that, use silicone spray or white lithium grease to lubricate the tracks. Don’t use any lubricants that stay wet and attract dust/dirt.

Soap is a great dry lube
You can even try color matching

Just run the edges of the thingy across the soap …. Last for months and smells nice if you stay away from lavender

Basically, what I said. Post #10
