Seam in awning

2016Cedar Creek 38CK. Just wondering...... why do they have a seam in the awning? It runs right where the end of the cover rests on it when it's open. When it rains we get drips through it. I'm going to put a run of clear awning repair tape along it on the top to stop the dripping.

I don]t know if it is still available but Colman had a sealer in a tube for sealing up tears in there tents. That's what I use to fix mine when I had the issue. Later RJD
