I have the space all prepared for the new RV King Size Mattress. Can hardly wait. The attached should show how easy this upgrade conversion is.
1. Removed table right side.
2. Added new plywood over top existing to support larger mattress of 72"W X 80"L.
3. New mattress will have 16" square notch in upper right and hinge 21" from foot to provide more space in room(and seat on plywood) when dressing, etc.
4. Maintained all existing storage space under bed.
5. Kept space for cornhole game along right wall. 😊

We receive the new mattress this week and first trip with it this coming weekend!

Did you plan for the weight of the King with the original gas struts they may or may not hold bed up when you are getting things out from underneath easy to make a brace to get around replacing the struts. JMHO

I did evaluate it and I concluded that it won't be a problem. If I'm wrong and it is a problem I will have to improvise at that point.

Queen to King Upgrade in Sierra 5th Wheel Final Pics

Project complete.
1. More roomy: 72"W X 80"L vs. former 60" X 80"
2. More Comfortable: Primarily due to extra room but the mattress is comfy.
3. More Functional: Room at end of bed to sit and get dressed when hinged up AND easier to access storage area when hinged up.
Pics show more than words can... :)

Pictures attached this time. :)
