Slideout Issue

2018 Forest River Sunseeker MBS 2400W
Issue: when putting this single length of the camper slide out, it moves out about 6” and the the slide toward the rear of the camper stops moving and the slide toward the front of the camer continues to slide out about another 2” before the slide-out binds and completely stops moving out.

1. Does anyone know what could be causing this issue?
2. How do you repair or adjust the slide (step-by-step) to work properly?
3. To repair or adjust this year and model Sunseeker, where are the slide motors and various slide-out components located on this year and model MBS Sunseeker 2400W camper? (I cannot see the slide-out components from looking beneath the camper where you might expect to see the slide-out mechanisms.
4. How and where do you access the slide-out motors?
5. How do you access and check other components that make be causing the issue?
6. Is there a slideout motor reset button.
7. Are there specific videos or written instructions for the 2018 Forest River Sunseeker MBS 2400W or this slide-out design and slide-out manufacturer for addressing common slide-out issues or my specific issue?

Note: I have already checked slide-out fuses and reset buttons and they have not tripped.

Thank you all for and or all advise, suggestions or technical support.
Very respectfully,
Tucker

Moved thread from the General Tech and Repair section to the Motorhome section's Mercedes Benz Sprinter Chassis sub-forum.

2018 Sunseeker slide out Issue

Dan, please advise why you moved my slideout issue question from the Forest River forum to the Mercedes. The slide out is part of the Sunseeker camper and not the Mercedes truck. Forest River build the camper and slide out not Mercedes. Please advise! Any information regarding any of my questions regarding the slide out issue would be helpful. Even the most basic information regarding the slide out, as where to start to address the issue. Any information to any of my questions below would be appreciated from the Forest River community.

good place to start is to ask in the MB sprinter section of the forum
as they probably have the same slide setup as you

there is quite a few different slide systems out there and you will need to work out what you got and then search for posts or videos on how to adjust/fix

I just started getting slide problems too
could be one of a couple problems

MY schwintek style slide I found so far...

controller is underneath the slide
stupidest place to put it for an OLD fart like me that has trouble getting down on the floor

lots of videos and posts on how to re-sync the motors

pulling/pushing on the "stuck" side can help get the motor moving and thus can get home with slide IN

after inspecting the mechanics of my slide I'm fairly certain it may be a weak motor or electrical system.. ?

my next plan is to

1) make sure battery 100% charged and good connections
move slide in/out as specified to re-sync

2) swap motors to the other sides...
if the problem swaps sides with the motor will look at the motor for lube or replace?

---------------------------------------------------------------
Trip last week ....... we saw a guy driving 20mph flashers on and slide all the way out

Said to the MRS............"glad that's not us"
packing up the next day.. Slide won't pull in on one side!
a) turned on converter / shore power
b) had the Mrs press the switch while I gently tugged at slide frame
c) sigh of relief when after 3 attempts the slide moved IN

Now at home and can start looking at the cause more

2018 Sunseeker Slide out issue

Greeting Aussieguy!

Thanks for your input. Do you know where the slide motors are located and how to access them. Looking from beneath the camper where you would think you might see the slide out motors and rails there is nothing. The slide out tracks on my 2018 Sunseeker are on the side of the slide out and can be seen when the slide is out.

Could they slide out motors be possibly accessible behind the pull out drawers under the U-shape seating for the front motor? Are their motors on the front and rear of the vehicle slide out? If so where would I look to find the rear of the camper slide out motor and how would I access it?

At this point I am just trying to find where the motors are located and how to access. Some where I read there is a slide out rest reset on the actual motor itself. But first have to find and access the slide out motor.

Thanks again for everyone’s help in trying to solve this puzzle.

Very respectfully,
Tucker

from your pictures it looks like you got schwintek ?

if so motors are in the wall behind the rubber side seals

have someone help you to get the slide back by pressing the button while you PULL hard on the slide that appears to be binding
I did that a couple of times and the motor finally ...started up again
I was able then to use short bursts on the switch to move the slide in or out all the way ...... and letting the motors get back in sync

This morning further inspected slide mechanism found no trace of damage by cogs

with full battery moved slide about 6 inches OUT ..... then back ALL the way in untill both motors stopped same time
repeated this about 5 times

then ... let motors cool down a bit

then ran slide all the way OUT and IN...
slide appears normal no clunking banging or slow motors

The trick was to push or pull on the stuck side to get that motor turning otherwise if it is so far Bound up and out of square you will have a lot of work
look at these

2018 Sunseeker MBS 2400W slide out Schwintek/Lippert

Hello again Aussieguy,

Thanks for the more detailed information and the videos regarding the schwintek/lippert in-wall side out mounted slide out. I have a much better understanding regarding all my questions based on your explanation and watching the Schwintek/Lippert ideas you provided. I plan to go over tomorrow to where I store the camper and go through the process you and your recommended videos suggested. I will also try to find the manual override control panel to do a hard reset. Thank you very much for all you help with the slide out misalignment issue while putting out and pulling in the slide out. Very respectfully, Tucker
The Aussies are awesome and save the day once again! 👏 :trink39:

cant resist helping a fellow aussie ...

your pictures of camper in ausssieland reminds me so much of where I grew up :roflblack:

2018 Sunseeker MBS 2400W slide out Schwintek/Lippert

Found the location of the slide out motors today, they are when the video in the thread showed them accessible from inside the camper, hidden behind the rubber seal at the top of the slide out frame in both the front and rear slide out support framing. I still have not found the manual slide our control panel or were and how to manually extend or retract the slide out for this 2018 Sunseeker MBS 2400W. Any suggestions regard the location of the slide out control panel were it can be reset or there and how to manually extend and retract the slide out, if the motors are not working/functioning properly. :banghead:

Where is the Lippert/Schwintek 2-motors in-wall velocity sync controller location on a 2018 Sunseeker 2400W? Any specific details, photos or videos as to the specific location of the Lippert/Schwintek 2-motors in-wall velocity sync controller would be greatly appreciated! Very respectfully, Tucker

The controller has been in a variety of locations in Forest River MBS units. You could look in all of the basement compartments - at one point they were installed behind a wallboard wall in the area of the fresh water tank (not a great location, in my opinion!)

2018 MBS 2400W slide out Schwintek/Lippert

Dave, Thanks for the suggestions as were to look for the slide out 2-motor sync control panel to reset the two slide motors so they sync and move in and out to eliminate the slide out binding and stopping after only extending about 8”-12”and binding and not fully extending. I will go over tomorrow and look in the areas you suggested and look in the outside storage bins as suggested by another people early this morning. Any other place to look for this control panel sync reset button. Very respectfully, Tucker:trink39:

Lippert/Schwintek 2-motors in-wall velocity sync controller location

Today I located the Lippert/Schwintek 2-motors in-wall velocity sync controller. It was installed in the large lower bin on the drivers side of my 2018 Forest River Sunseeker MBS 2400W. See attached photos of the Lippert/Schwintek 2-motors in-wall velocity sync controller location. ::D :trink39::sterb188::peace:

The Lippert/Schwintek 2-motors in-wall velocity sync controller has a very small red switch on the controller that can be switched on and off with your fingernail.

I switched it off then went inside the RV and tried to operate the slide out. It was turned off and the motors did not power up. I then when back outside and switched on the very small red switch on the Lippert/Schwintek 2-motors in-wall velocity sync controller and waited about 1-min and then when back inside and proceeded to run the slide out. It went about 6-10 inches out and then the back slide stopped with the front still trying to go out until it started binding again and stopped. I ran the slide in and out about a dozen times, to no avail. Is just continued to repeat the binding.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions as to what to try next or a recommendation on how to proceed? Thank you for any and all suggestions and assistance. Very respectfully, Tucker :peace::sterb188:

Manually retract stuck in-wall Lippert/Schwintek slide out

How do you manually retract a 2018 Sunseeker Lippert/Schwintek 2-motors in-wall slide out. It is stuck in the out position. :crying:

You have a slim rack not a schwinteek slide system. The only way to manually retract the slide is to loosen the nut holding the motor (both motors) and lift them up to disengage them from the shafr connecting to the gears. When they are disengaged, then you can push in the slide. It must then be blocked in or reengage the motors to prevent the slide from rolling out.

There is a video on the Lippert site for the trouble shooting of the system. Very similar to the schwintek

Manually moving/repositioning slide-out Lippert in-wall slimline 2018 Sunseeker 2400W

RGT3000 — Thanks for the “How To” information on manually moving, realigning or repostioning the slide-out on a Lippert in-wall slimline slide-out on a 2018 Forest River MBS Sunseeker 2400W by removing both motors and blocking or bracing the slide-out so when the motors are removed, the slide-out does not roll out! Then manually physically pushing the slide-out back into the correct position and reinstall the motors. Then running the slide-out in and out several times to check the squareness of the alignment! :trink39:

Where is the Lippert/Schwintek 2-motors in-wall velocity sync controller location on a 2018 Sunseeker 2400W? Any specific details, photos or videos as to the specific location of the Lippert/Schwintek 2-motors in-wall velocity sync controller would be greatly appreciated! Very respectfully, Tucker
I found mine (2018 Sunseeker 2400M:cool: in the storage box under the slideout. Using a cordless drill battery Makita, Milwalki... attach a pigtail with alligator clips to the controller. you can actuate the motors individually and get it straight and slide it in. I bought a new controller and it solved the problem.
