Hello

Thinking of modifying the murphy bed on our 2021 Wolf pup 16FQ. I would like to remove the board at the front of the couch to allow plastic bins to be slid in and out from under the murphy bed / couch. does anyone know if this is structural to the couch??

Pics would make it easier to help you. Include inside. Worse case scenario you can add a support frame like a length of angle iron. There's always a way.

Can't speak for others, but I'm not going to click on a random DropBox link.

You can easily add photos to display inline within your post by clicking on the "paper clip" button (in the top row of buttons, to the right of the fonts).

Thanks for the pro tip, I was trying to upload the pictures using the "Insert Image" This works better

It appears there are vertical boards on each end there are what appears to be fastners on the front side. Is there one going across the top?

Just my amateur opinion...
It looks like it's part of the bed structure. I'll bet it supports the bed to keep it from 'sagging' in the middle.
You might be able to take that out and put another structural support from side to side.

That's what I was thinking, but was hoping someone had done this before.
I am considering a piece of 1 1/2 angle iron across the top. Suggestions are welcome

Umm...

Umm, I kinda think that panel also provides some cross-bracing to prevent sideward pressure from changing the geometry from a rectangle to a parallelogram. An angle iron across the top won't prevent that.

X-bracing (diagonals) would, but that would prevent you from making an access.

As a test, you could simply unscrew the panel and see how sloppy it gets.

I am going to remove the panel on Friday and see what happens. I thought about making a welded frame to keep everything square if necessary

Thanks for all the ideas
George
