Hey all - 2023 Georgetown GT7 36D7 -

Just bought my wife a Lectric E Trike (and a regular XP bike for me). Mine will fit inside the cargo area, the trike is too big to fit under or inside the RV.

What do you all think about using this bike rack for the trike using the tow hitch?

I am worried about weight on the receiver and sway.

Also - we will be using a tow dolly at times for our car - thoughts on using a dual receiver adapter with both (if it would even fit).

Thanks everyone!!

The 36D7 has frame extensions welded on by Moryde before Forest River gets the chassis. I am sure this is part of why the towing limit is 5000 lbs. I think there is a 500 lb hitch weight rating also, but double check that.

While that carrier and trike would likely be under 500 lbs...there is also a lever action of that setup that will add a lot of force to the hitch going down the road. If you can see it in your rear camera....you might cringe at how much it will move up and down! But it would be worth trying...

The problem will be adding the tow dolly. Not just for the weight, but clearance in turning or going through dips where the car/dolly fenders might not clear the trike.

Thank you for the reply.

I have the same trike. It fits in the back of my pathfinder

Note that I said "part of why" the tow rating is 5000 lbs! :)

Certainly the hitch provided is a factor. For one thing, these 5000 lb hitches are cheap and easy to install. Going up to the next level means a heavier duty hitch that has forward extension arms that also bolt to the frame. FR will have to spend more money in labor and materials. And by that I also mean they would have to reinforce the frame of the coach. They know there is another 1000 lbs or so Ford would allow for a towed vehicle provided the other weight factors are in line. However, the frame extensions are not even diagonally braced, or even cross braced if I recall correctly. The tow hitch they install is about all the bracing it gets!
I know Ford pickups pretty well. If you order a tow hitch from the factory on an F 150 they are all the same unit ( with the exception of certain max-tow options). Some of these F 150's had a very low tow rating of about 5000, lbs. Some are over 11,000 lbs. ALL with the same hitch. When you properly option the max-tow configuration you then get the upgraded Class IV hitch along with other upgrades. I don't buy the theory that FR goes with a 5K hitch to keep people from towing 6K. There ARE Ford F-53 chassis motorhomes that are rated for up to 6K towing. Simply a price point choice.

Scott - What I'd like to know is which cargo space you are using for the XP ? I have a 2023 36K7 and I have not been able to fit mine into any of the cargo areas. Are you using drivers side or passenger side ? which cargo door (counted from the front of the coach). I struggled for an hour trying to squeeze mine in and I'm pretty good when it comes to trying every different "path of attack" so to speak. I've just ended up putting it in the back of the cherokee toad.

Hey Russell,

Folded up, mine fits in the second compartment on the driver's side (2nd behind the propane tank. It's the split compartment that has the two doors that dont open together. I dont have a pic right now, but by angling it, it fits in. Have to drop the seat.

I have the same trike and e-bike for myself. We used a cargo carrier one season but did not like the setup. Then I saw the same carrier that you referenced. I checked the dimensions, and the trike will not fit. Lectric has a carrier specifically for the trike and bike. I personally opted to buy a 3-rail motorcycle trailer and build a rack to carry a fishing canoe along with both bikes and a motorcycle if I choose to take it also.
