Towing 3800 LBS with a ???

How many people are in the Pathfinder when you camp? What other gear is in your car?

Start with the payload. You'll find that on your door jamb sticker. It's probably in the 1,100 - 1,200 range.

Your 3,800 lb trailer will drop about 475 lbs on your Pathfinder. That leaves around 600 - 750 lbs for all of you, your passengers, any aftermarket items (grilles, hitches, roof cargo carriers), and gear (wood, bikes, pets, duffel bags).

Typically, it's only the wife and I when we camp. Occasionally, our teenage grandson. We typically have a full beer cooler and I'll generally bring wood scraps and pieces of old stockade fencing with us for the campfire in the vehicle.

Admittedly, the Pathfinder sags, but the WDH helps with that. We have had it since new (2013) and it's now on it's second trailer without incident.

thanks to all for the inputs. It is so nice to hear all the perspectives since i can't ever go the truck dealer and say hey "can i test drive the truck while pulling the trailer?". I was looking at the new rangers at first because of the overall length and i think they are rated at 7500 tow capacity with the tow pkg and it will fit in my garage. The F-150 is 3 inches too long to fit. But now i think that i may just build another garage to fit the trailer and buy whatever truck i like.

I'm curious if having "the campfire in the vehicle" is hard on the upholstery?

When I was looking at my first pickup (used mind you) the dealership actually let me test drive two different trucks pulling my trailer. I bought the second one and there wouldn't have been a sale without towing with it first.
