Need thoughts on if just use regular air or is going to expense of nitrogen fill advisable?
One tire on my Wolf Pup 18 RTJ blew on the last trip. Spare is one, same brand and size as originals on axle. Had to order new tire to get same brand and size. Question about using nitrogen fill. When the guys replaced with the spare, it was down to 25 PSI. They filled with regular air to pressure. Road pressure 65 PSI. I am ready to have new tire installed on old rim. Plan is to leave old spare on and replace good original to become spare. This means doing a nitrogen fill for both the new tire and the recently installed original spare.?.

Waste of time and money. Not needed for passenger cars and trucks or travel trailers. It's primarily a way for dealers to gets hundreds more for what's essentially fancy air.

I think green works....
while using only "air" I was constantly getting flats
switched to green valves and those nails never punctured the tires again

hmmm come to think about it
could have been that , I used a magnet to rake the roofing screws outta the yard

Wow this was a huge topic about 10 years ago did not know the scam was still out there.......... maybe its out after the next generation .........

Did a search in thread titles only and found 48 results.

It's been discussed a few times around here...

I don't think nitrogen is any safer than air but I will say according to my TPMS readings the toad tires with nitrogen are more stable pressure wise.

Car tires, trailer tires, bicycle tires "don't make no difference."

For those who've not paid attention the past nine (9!) years :) or the last couple weeks:

The "Nitrogen in Automotive Tires" push starded a lot longer ago than 10 years ago.

Before I retired from a tire company (21 years ago this coming January) I sat in staff meetings while this was discussed. The general concensus was it would be an 'additional profit item for our stores. Back in the day tires were sold using the method of quoting the tire price then adding the valve stem cost, wheel balance cost, and in some stores even adding a "Road Hazard/Service Policy. Tire prices were so competitive there was little profit and the "Add-Ons" were most of the dealer's profit.

As times changed ways to increase "the bottom line" spawned all kinds of ideas and "Nitrogen" just was the latest. There are still some stores that push it at an "upcharge" but for the most part not universal due to the high cost of Nitrogen Generators and consumer resistance.

Even our local Nissan car dealership got rid of their nitrogen equipment even though all the top end Nissan cars were coming from the factory with Nitrogen filled tires at the time.
