I'm getting ready to replace the tires on our TT. I see Greenball Towmaster tires at Costco. I've never heard of them but Costco has a reputation for having quality products soooo - has anyone run these on their trailer? If so, what's your opinion? FWIW, they are a good bit cheaper than most of the better ST tires.

Edit - I did search the forum but al the threads I found were pretty old

Never heard of them either.

When it comes to vehicles……motor vehicles or trailers…..the 2 things I never cheap out on are tires and brakes.

That’s the only real safety concerns I have with vehicles.. How about you?

I can't comment on those tires since I've never heard of them either. But I am also in the camp who says don't go cheap on tires. I replaced all 5 this year after two blowouts in a single week (one on the way to the tire store) on the cheap factory tires.

I had 3 China bombs blowout on me on a trip earlier this year. Talk about getting snake bit. We dodged a bullet as the damage was minimal to my trailer. That said, when I was sitting on the side of the road contemplating life and my decisions on my new impending tire buying choices. I went to Costco, Walmart, Sams, NTB etc. I had to purchase two cheap tires from NTB and use my spare to get me home (around 50 miles).

Long story short. Got home did some research and wound up going to discount tire of all places and found some real good RV tires and replaced all 4. They are genuine RV tires. They have the same pressure as called for on your RV Placard and if memory serves are 14 ply. They had some more expensive ones, but they were like 400 a tire. Nope. I believe I paid around 130 a tire with warranty.

Anyway, give discount a look.

I would check Walmart for Carlisles, good tires and similar price point.

I second Carlisle (who is changing name to Carlstar). Just recently put a set on and love them so far. Saved hundreds over the Goodyear Endurance with similar specs.

You hear of blow-outs on TTs it seems more than any other type of RV. Yeah, tires can be costly, but if I had a TT I'm pretty sure I would have a good rubber all around.

I replaced all six tires on my motorhome last year. On the front I put Hankooks and for the four rears I went with Sumitomos.

Thanks to all for the responses and recommendations. I understand that a cheap tire can cause a lot more expense than the savings. I also know that there is best and good products out there and sometimes I need the cost savings over getting the best. That's why I asked if the Costco tires were good since I hadn't heard of them before. I have had Carlisle tires and got very good service out of them with no blow outs.

I have one other question - my current rims are 5" wide. Some of the tires I've looked at call for 5" rims and others say 5.5" rims. Will putting a 205\5 R15 Load range D tire on a 5" rim be an issue?

When I read 5.5" rims, I am thinking bolt pattern.

Not sure if that is what you mean but that shouldn't affect whether the tire fits.
Maybe wmtire will respond

If it does mean rim width, I am sure it does make a difference.
(I am not a tire guy)

Yes, I am talking about the rim width being 5"

There are two different rim width specs you may see. One is measured rim width. This is the width of the rim that their tire was mounted on and was used by that manufacturer when getting all the height/width numbers for their tire.

You may also see a rim width range number which is the recommended rim widths to be used by that manufacturer for their tire. All tire manufacturers are fairly close in their numbers but may not be exact.

Here is spec chart for the GY Endurance 205/75R15. The rim they used to get measurements is 5.5" wide but they say you can use a rim in range from 5" to 6.5" wide for that tire.

No issue at all. See my previous post before this one,

Thanks you so much for the quick response! Now I don't need to buy new rims!!!

One thing I noticed when looking at specs for rims was that as the width went up (wider) the max load increased. Since our TT only weighed in at around 6200# fully loaded at the CAT scale even the lower max of the 5" rim (2020#) gives us over 1800# cushion (4 wheel total).

I'd be careful ordering/buying tires online from Walmart. I'm in NV and some Walmarts don't install when you buy online and the Goodyears I bought online were two years old and Walmart would not refund. Maybe buying in person is a better experience but I'm done with Walmart.

I put them on my older RV, about 2 years ago. Got them at Costco, mostly because I buy all my tires, at Costco. They are as good as any other RV tire IMO. The real problem is, no matter what brand you buy, sooner or later, they will fail. I have B.F Goodrich All Terrain
KO2's, on my truck, and I don't understand why they don't make RV tires as indestructible, as them!

Ditto to above. I ONLY run Goodyear Endurance tires on my toy hauler.

I order tires on line usually and when placing the order with one of the big three tire sellers like Tire Rack, Priority Tire, Simple Tire, etc. I always specify if the tires date code is over 6 months old, they will be refused when delivered. Sometimes I have to wait a few days but they always call back 'cause they found some on a warehouse that are LESS than 6 months old.
