I have seen posts where customers were able to order a temperature stabilizer replacement for a cracked unit. I am getting quotes of around $2,000 to fix this with several replacement parts required as standard operating procedure and around $800 in labor. I am trying to find a way around this as this is just highway robbery. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The top of the black plastic dome cracked. Part #15

Did it crack from freezing?
It might be worth a shot but try putting JB Weld Plastic on the crack. You might have to gouge out the crack a little to get it to adhere and seal properly. An inexpensive option.

It is cracked pretty bad, the dome is raised up where it cracks. It was from freezing. It doesn't seem like it could go back to proper shape.

Truma has all of this on lockdown. Their best suggestion is to replace the whole thing for $3k and mine is brand new. Only a select amount of service centers are certified to work on the parts and with that, I am still getting quoted $2k for a part that costs maybe $100.

I have seen other threads in this forum where members were able to purchase the unit and install themselves. That is the solution I am trying to find.

I would advise having the water heater looked at by a service center and if it needs replaced they can order a Truma water heater from our parts department. Water They may have options (new and refurbished which is a bit cheaper) Most of the time the expansion tank is a non serviceable part.

I love on-demands and it seems as though Truma is one of the best.
But if I had to spend that much for a complete replacement (instead of just broken parts) I do believe I would rip out the whole mess and install a much cheaper on-demand or tank type.

ok,wrote a very long reply, somehow pushed the wrong
button and lost it.

anyway, I have a 2018 Berkshire and had the same problem with the Truma hot water heater, except my unit cracked on the bottom section, I see there are screws connecting the lower section to the upper section, I have my old part, in Texas you have a option to keep the old parts. I did.
your welcome to my old unit if you want it.
contact me if you do, I can also give you the retail and
wholesale cost of the part. also truma gives 2.5 hours
labor for warranty labor to replace this part.
let me know i’d you want my old part.

That would be great! You think the top part only will install ok without needing a whole unit? I'll reach out in private messaging. Thanks!

I had a local authorized Truma repair shop order the part
for me, my ordinal plan was to install it myself but I decided to let them do it. The charge for the part was $282.85
labor was $338.00 If someone is quoting you more
then they are ripping you off.
I pulled the unit from the rv and they only had to replace
the part, I reinstalled myself

I have read many good things about the Truma functionality. But when it come to service and parts, they seem to lose all their value with Truma's ridiculous policies and prices.
So you removed and replaced the whole unit, but they still charged you $338 for installing the part?
Since the entire bill (with you doing most of the work) is very close to the price of an entire unit of a different brand, I would of been sorely tempted to chuck the Truma and replace it.....

I purchased that part myself from Truma - shipped to my house and removed the unit AGAIN, and replaced the part myself, took me about 40 minutes to remove unit, replace part and reinstall unit and have hot water flowing again. IMG_5170.jpgIMG_5200.jpgIMG_4973.jpg
