Under camper accent lighting?

I’m considering adding under camper accent lighting. Something that I can control the color and brightness of. I don’t want to be the annoying guy with flashing lights under the camper…but soft yellow that doesn’t attract bugs might be nice.

I’m having trouble determining the power consumption on these sets on Amazon. They don’t really publish the wattage and voltage details in the description.

Has anyone done something like this?

Power consumption on those strip LED's will be minimal. If the fuses are marked it would give you an indication of draw. I'd bet they are a 3 or 5 amp fuse. 3 amps at 12 volts is 36 watts equivalent. (1 amp at 12 volts is 12 watts and so on).

if you boondocking and have to count watts
turn on a inside light and open curtains then you can find it in the dark

connected to shorepower wattage is usually not a problem
unless you have a small camper with a 35 amp converter
you may/could upgrade to a bigger converter?

True Aussieguy that’s an option, as well as the factory orange LED by the door…but we would find ourselves probably boondocking more than not…I was curious if anyone had done something similar and what products they considered or went with. I saw this product as well…inexpensive and might be a better choice?

I use a special clip for the 7 pin trailer plug, to just turn the marker lights on while on shore power.
But if you want less intrusive, then you could add some marker lights on the bottom.

Oh that’s an idea…I like the idea of the marker lights as a temporary fix until I can find some less intrusive.

I also like the step light…the factory orange light is so bright and in your face…something below would help see the steps and offer some indirect light

battery power you need to watch all the power you use
standard dealer supplied "marine Battery" you need to be real careful. unless you got good solar and a decent battery

Get a couple of solar garden lights from the hardware store if you need to find your way home
they even got spotlights . so you can focus on the door lock.

Connected to shorepower ... turn on all the lights anytime you want
add exterior downlights underneath ... just be nice and turn them OFF after bedtime

I found a solution to my lighting dilemma…I was looking for under camper lighting to be able to get things cleaned up and put away at the end of the night. The yellow light on the side is just to much.

After toying around on the World Wide Web I found these little LED rechargeable pods. They’re intended for under vehicle accent lighting. I bought a 4 pack and in hindsight wish I had bought the 6 or 8 pack.

They’re not too obtrusive, you can change the color…they say they’ll last 2 hrs…I probably used them for 30 min total over a couple nights and have to say I like how they worked…simple and no wiring required. They recharge with a USB 4 way dongle. Pretty slick all in all.

I would not want to camp next a rig like that. For soft lighting I like cheap solar lights from the home improvement store and headlamps for outside. In summer lighting is not much of an issue. In winter it is really important.

Fair enough…the picture isn’t the best representation… it’s definitely not as bright as depicted. Additionally I don’t leave them on continuously… just for clean up and getting settled at the end of the night

I mounted an LED license plate light facing toward the ground on the frame behind the step. Enough light to enter and exit without being annoying.
