I'm finding that the stock Wafco 8955 just does not have the proper setting to recharge my batteries in a reasonable time (over 24 hr on AC). My research shows that the Progressive Dynamics Converter with charge wizard will recharge things at a higher rate and will shorten the time significantly as well as extend the life of the batteries (2 - T105's) I'm looking to upgrade my converter but in measuring the space where the original converter is installed, it is not big enough for adding the PD 9260 or PD 9270. There is a panel to the right of the converter (below the oven) that has some diamond shaped screws holding it in place, is that my best option. Both of the PD's have a 3 pronged plug, there are three wires that come down the left side of the existing converter that is wired into the 8955. Can I cut the 3 wires and splice in a female plug for the PD to plug into?

Sounds good. Make absolutely sure they are the 110V wires of course. You will be happy with the PD converter/charger since it floats at 13.2V and does not boil water out of your batteries. My wifco floated at 13.8V so I switched it out due to previous experience with PD converters. (Actually, my wifco did everything at 13.8V.) Once every 21 hours the PD will run up to 14.5V and do a desulfation for 15 minutes and then drop back to 13.2V float.
A word of caution when you install the PD: don't expect it to immediately drop to a 13.2V float charge. Just leave it alone for about two days and then check on it. Mine has the Charge Wizard on a cord so I mounted it where I can look in through the windshield and check on the status. I always used to get antsey when I looked in and saw a fast flashing LED meaning 13.5-13.8V for a couple of days after parking and plugging in the power cable of the motorhome. Now I just leave it alone and let it do its thing.
