Wall slide opened while driving!?!

I will preface by saying my 2018 Legacy 38C has had nothing but issue after issue since buying it brand new.
Our latest issue is on our way from Charlotte, NC to Virginia Beach yesterday the main wall slide began to slide out WHILE DRIVING. The font of the slide didn’t seem to move but the back came loose and slide out about 2-3 inches. I was able to use the app on my phone and control the hydraulics to suck it back in while driving but it came back loose about 30 minutes later. Luckily we were at the end of our drive to the KOA here and I can go to Lowe’s and buy some boards to secure it for the ride home but this was scary as **** to see while driving. My 3 kids and niece were at the sofa and dinette which are part of thy slide.
Anyone had this happen before??
I’ve already had to send it back to the factory shortly after buying it when the rollers broke though the floor underneath and it got stuck extended out about 6 inches while on a trip and had to drive it home that way.
Are these slides just terribly designed?
Thanks in advance!

Sounds like the piston & anti-creep valve are defective. Should be changed together & should be covered under warranty.

Don't despair about the number of things that go wrong, things will settle down after awhile. Yeah, I know they're a PITA but they will go away.

I read somewhere that driving a RV down the road is like subjecting a house to a 6.7 magnitude earthquake.

If factories were to take finished RV's on shake down "cruises" like is done with ships you could easily add "5 figures" to the cost.

Instead of adding substantial amounts of cost to the product up front, they provide a Warranty.

FWIW, getting problems fixed under warranty, even small ones you might just say "***-it, I'll do it myself", help improve the product over time as the factory can track the items that are the largest problems. If they don't hear about problems and have a way to analyze the causes it's just business as usual.

Vehicle manufacturers have been doing this for decades and over time their product has improved greatly.

As for all the griping that goes on in forum discussions, factories don't follow them for obvious reasons. Too large a credibility gap due to the number of people who relate stories they have merely heard "around the campfire". Far different than a DOCUMENTED warranty claim.

Great Info

Thanks for the info about the piston and valve. We’re out of factory warranty now but I have an extended warranty that hopefully will pick up most of the costs if I can’t get FR to cover it due to past slide issues.
I have a list of over 35 issues, many major, that we had fixed under warranty during our first year. It’s just frustrating to pay this much for brand new and have it spend most of its first 6 months of ownership in and out of the repair shop. Our storage yard actually asked if we were still going to keep our RV there as we paid for months of storage that it was never there for. The design is overall a good one except for the handling and battery systems which are lacking at best.
I’ll update on what the issue turns out to be once we get home and can get into the shop. Thinking about canceling the storage lot and just delivering it to/from the repair place between trips could save some real money!!

Have you contact FR about your list? They may correct them for free.
