I would like to get an opinion from some of you regarding a water damage claim.
I have a 2018 cedar creek silverback. I was in Oregon and Washington a couple months ago. One day I noticed that I had water rolling down my wall underneath the main bedroom slide out window.
Long story short... obviously there was a manufacturing error on the fifth wheel since I’ve only owned it for a few months. I have water damage underneath both windows in the bedroom slide out. Mold has grown underneath the windows. I found out that my wall behind the headboard of the bed is water soaked as well. I found mold in the front closet in the same room. The mold in the closet ruined several items of clothing and several pair of shoes. Mold underneath the bed as well. Come to find out that I have moisture in almost every corner of this trailer where corners and slides are located.
I have contacted forest river and they are really trying to work with me. They want me to allow Amish Family RV to do the repairs. (Amish Family RV has a great reputation from what I’m hearing) They are located in close proximity to the manufacturing plant. They have offered to completely fix the unit and extend my warranty to assure I have no future problems. I have been extremely impressed with what they have offered at this point. However, here is my question... I have always heard that a water damaged trailer is never the same once water starts seeping in, and that it will never totally be sealed properly. In speaking with forest river, they have assured that the cedarcreeks are made with wood that can be replaced without worrying about delamination.
Does anyone know if this information is correct?
Can this unit be adequately repaired without worrying about future water damage?
Would you accept a brand new unit that has endured all the water damage that this unit has taken on?
Would you be content for them to repair a mold infested trailer?
I know that if the damage supercedes the value of the repairs, there’s a good chance that it could be bought back from me.
I understand there can be times when a unit isn’t manufactured correctly. I do not feel that this is typical for cedarcreek but I’m not sure that I’m comfortable with a repaired unit.
I would appreciate anyone that is willing to weigh in on this and how you would approach this, or if you would be willing to have a unit repaired (that is only a few months old), or would you ask for a replacement fifth wheel?
I appreciate your input.
Thanks
