Campworthy, follow the instructions to the letter for your specific WDH. The setup instructions vary from one brand to another.
It helps when establishing the beginning height of the front fender to place the tape at an even inch mark instead of randomly on the fender and then measuring. You will want to return to as close to the front fender height as possible when the WDH is loaded, without going less than the original height.
When I bought my 2109s, the mechanic did an excellent job of setting up the WDH for the Ranger. I had to learn the process when I bought the F150 and relegated the Ranger to a backup TV.
