Windshield gasket deterioration

Has anyone experienced deterioration of the windshield gasket? This is a 2016 Georgetown 270, less than three years old. Parked under cover when not in use. Photo is of the driver's side, and passenger side has similar deterioration.

That looks to be the caulking material around the gasket. The rubber seal itself looks ok

The gasket itself, to me, looks fine.

X 2. If you are not having any leaks and don't want to spend quite a bit of money I would probably run some black rtv around the outside to smooth it up. That's just me and from what I see. You could take it to a glass installer and get their opinion.

I did a thread on this not too long ago. I had to R&R the gasket on my 270S! Apparently, FR does not apply anywhere near enough of the appropriate sealant material. The independent mobile RV windshield technician removed the existing ws, applied sealant into front end cap fiberglass groove, new rubber gasket inside and outside, then on top of gasket on the endcap topside after completion of R&R. The original ws was reused - did not break. This guy was one of the few (5 out of 350 encounters) professionals I have dealt with in the RV "industry". This required 4 large tubes of the proper material. Based on what I saw him use, FR used less than 1/2 tube of material - 8 :1 ratio!!! No wonder my ws leaked every time it rained! After curing for a day, I took a quick trip on the Interstate to check and 85% of the wind noise I used to hear (I thought were the side windows) disappeared. The remaining 15 % is probably the side windows.

That's different than how my windshield is installed. My windshield is glued in place then the rubber gasket is affixed to the body and windshield. The gasket does not hold anything in.
I believe in mobile repair services because they come out quick and are eager to please. Usually fix things within a few days and less expensive.

I was specifically addressing the 270 model line. From my investigation over the 6 months (thank you FR for not assisting AT ALL!) it took to get resolved (everyone pointed fingers at everyone else, no one knew how it was actually put together (until I talked to mobile tech), …. I was told (do not know how true) that using a grommet installation is gone (again) and they are back to gluing in the ws and then adding a gasket on top for cosmetic reasons.

The 270 used a "multi-channel grommet" that seals and applies fit tension to keep it in and not pop out - cross your fingers. The sealing compound was to make up for the unprofessional end cap construction and prevent water leaks - LOL.

His price was not "cheap", but he does not have the additional overhead that all of the brick and mortar places included, but refused to do the work. They wanted nothing to do with FR regardless of who was paying or how much. That says everything about the "industry".

Thanks 270S. We're having terrible wind noise, and that's why I was looking for possible causes. I'd contemplated upgrading windows, but your experience will send me in that direction. We have windshield coverage, and a rock chip is growing. Good time to get it replaced by a reputable installer.

I R&R WS for rain/water leaking like a sieve. The noise reduction was an notproblemtryingtosolve/unforeseen/unknown/looking in wrong direction/…. problem solved. An unintended problem go away! I was actually amazed at the problem and solution - I had never even considered it was causing a wind noise problem - always time to learn. This is what the forum is intended for, not some of the other stuff that never seems to end.
