Hi folks, a friend bought an Outback travel trailer.
This is he water heater. You'll notice it has one valve.
Which way is normal, and which way for winterizing please?

I believe it in winterize mode now. Twist it to get water to flow into the heater.

I believe there is a check valve at the outlet side of the water heater which prevents water from flowing into the outlet side when in winterization mode which is why only one controllable valve is sufficient.

Hope that helps.

it looks like it is set to the winterize position. in this position incoming water will be diverted from going into the tank to the bypass hose. there is also a 2nd valve involved and that is a one way check valve right at the hot water output from the tank. it will allow water to flow out of the tank but not into it. without this check valve the water would flow across the bypass hose and them up and into the tank via the hot water outlet. you do not have to turn or manipulate the check valve.
