Wireless Internet. who is the best

Hi all . my wife and I are going full time campers this coming year and would like to hear other campers thoughts.

I just had my Sprint "Hot Spot" activated on my phone. Any place you have cell signal, you have internet. I use it when my destination doesn't have wi-fi or when doing banking for security.

I hate it when I’m in an area that is a 3G network or less because the Internet runs frustratingly S-L-O-W. Even so, there are still plenty of areas in our country that don’t have any cell signal at all.

Oakman is right. I have Sprint and my wife has Verizon. Verizon is superior in every way except price, and her coverage across all of our travels is exponentially better. I'll take my cheaper Sprint and use her Verizon hotspot!

Thanks to all. I have AT&T & MY DW has T-MOBILE &even in the great state of south carolina, we still can't get cell coverage. I had heard . that Verizon had a package deal for rv'er s, any one.else?

You can always try looking into satellite internet. I'm not sure how tough they are to setup if you move around a lot but I used to know a guy who got good speeds that way while he lived in the sticks.

Edit: Just note that there's a slight delay with satellite so it's great for things like Netflix or other streaming services, but not so great for voice calls.

Well, we installed a repeater on the rv that lets us pick up most park/restaurant etc wifi spots, but all the perceeders. for service anywhere, using a Verizon cell phone hot spot works almost everywhere

Verizon Smartphone Hot Spot

My DW and I use Verizon because of the amount of coverage. We use it when the RV Park does not have WiFi and when we do our banking because we can encrypt the signal. We have been very happy with it. Used to have the small MiFi device from Verizon, but don't need it if your smartphone has hotspot capability. There also times when the WiFi in the RV park does not reach all the sites.

I am sitting here in FL on my Sprint IPhone hotspot and a speed test shows download speed at 12MPS. That's 4x my DSL at home and it costs $50 per month for 6 GIGs.

Now, that said, I have almost "0" Sprint coverage at home and will likely change to Verizon in the future.

The moral to the story is that if you stay near interstates or larger cities, Sprint is the best bang for the buck. If you go in the boonies, all bets are off.

x's 2 I have Verizon traveled across the usa and back out in the boones included, and always had a signal some were 3g and not 4g, but had it at anytime. Can't beat the Jetpack, you can connect up to 5 computers or phones. All secure network not like WIFI......

Have had AT&T for 20 yrs, and have been in most states, camping/traveling and most of the time have good signal, 3G and 4G. Even in areas of Alaska.

I'm with Oakman on this one. We bought the Verizon Myfi last year and it works great. When we are driving we keep it on the dash with the IPAD picking up signals which we use to phone ahead for reservations during the busy months and or research campgrounds to see if they are open this time of year.
Anytime you are within signal range of their towers..you have internet.

Cell Phones

They are all the same, except some have better coverage in different areas. ATT and Verizon are probably the best. Att does not work to well in Northern California or some places along I40 however it works well in the southeast.

As an old truck driver I found Verizon superior. Had Sprint to start with--pathetic at that time. My better half had AT&T but it didn't keep up with Verizon. Of course they all have dead spots but Verizon seems to have fewest

I vote Verizon and this is from personal experience. Also Trailer Life and/or Motorhome magazine have had readers comment on the superior coverage from Verizon Wireless.

What is Verizon hotspot?

Many phones on the market can be connected by wifi to your laptop so you can go on the internet. Those phones have what is called a Hotspot. Not the fastest speed but if you're just checking email it usually works well. Hope that makes sense.
